My first review so if it is helpful, please, let me know!

First of all, thanks to the other reviewers complaints about sizing, I ordered both the Small Kurgo TruFit Harness and the Medium Kurgo TruFit Harness so that I could return whichever one didn't fit. Sizing is off so if you have doubts, do what I did and save yourself some trouble. Amazon has hassle free returns which is one of the reasons I always feel confident ordering from them!

Secondly, one of the harnesses came in packaging that had been resealed with clear packing tape and was missing the seat belt loop. The other harness came in its originally packaging with everything intact and both were shipped in the same box so I was a little put off that one item was so obviously a returned item re-shipped and missing an essential piece.

Thirdly, although I think that the idea that you can adjust the bottom strap so that it is definitely in the right spot on your dog (on the actual breastbone/ribcage instead of hitting below on their organs, which is, I presume, why they call it "TruFit" as this is the only adjustment that I haven't seen on other seat belts) the actual loops that you have the choice of slipping the strap through for this sizing adjustment are TWO DIFFERENT SIZES - one large enough to easily fit the strap and buckle through, the other so small that I had to use pliers to help pull the strap and buckle through. Does this ruin the product? No, because once you adjust it to the right size you won't have to fuss with it ever again, but I do nwish that the design had been thought out better to avoid the inconvenience in the first place. It's like they never actually tested this adjustment on the finished product and it seems like a pretty big flaw. I'm young and fit so I was able to make it work but if someone who was older or had a disability or arthritis, they would need someone to assist them. Of course, you might get lucky and you might not have to adjust this strap and then you wouldn't encounter this problem. :-)

I am glad I was able to order this through Amazon because I had a few questions about the harness and contacted the company directly through their website, on at least two separate occasions, and they never got back to me. If I didn't have the option to purchase this through Amazon, based on Kurgo's lack of customer service, I wouldn't have taken the risk of purchasing through [...]. In fact, if I had found a product I liked as much as this harness at the time of my purchase, I wouldn't have given Kurgo my business period because customer service is important to me. Unfortunately, I liked this product better than others I investigated so I chose my dog's safety and convenience over not wanting to support a company that ignores their potential customers.

Overall, although I wish the design were better, I think that the product works and will last. I really, really like that the seat belt loop can be detached so that when we are in and out of the car I can just leave the harness on and buckling my pup in is easy and quick to do. In fact, this was one of the reasons I chose this product over others. The seat belt loop is long enough to let my dog ride in comfort so that she isn't too restrained, but is restrained enough to remain safe. I have the pink harness and I think the color and image reflect what you will get. The actual construction of the product and the materials seem to be good quality. Lowest Price British Style Slip Lead - 1/2" x 6' - Red

I like this kind of lead and the Mendota is a quality brand made in USA (I am told). I actually have a Mexican knock-off so my review is more of this type of lead. These slip leads are great for moving a dog a short distance or for walking a dog that has already been well trained on everything you'll expect him to do on the walk. These leads are poor for getting a distracted dog's attention or for giving corrections in training. They are poor for dogs that have not learned not to pull.

I use it to walk my puppy because I have low expectations for my puppy while he is a puppy (compared to a mature dog) and he has already learned to walk decently on a leash for his age. Therefore, it's unlikely that I'm going to need much to get him off a distraction or correct him on a walk. He also wears a prong collar with a pull tab if I do need to correct him, but that doesn't happen on walks where I walk him.

For dogs that don't walk decently on a leash, I prefer to have a flat collar that won't tighten around the dog's throat. With the flat collar, I can give the leash a few little pops to get the dogs attention from a distraction (of course you try using your voice first and regardless you reward with praise and treats when he responds). If the dog needs a correction (let's say he decides to bark aggressively and to lunge at another dog on lead across the street), I can give it a harder pop to demotivate him from the inappropriate behavior. This lead doesn't work for these purposes. You can't pop it. If your dog doesn't mind, you will just be pulling and choking him.

I like the stiffness of the nylon rope compared to the limpness of the nylon strapping on a nylon leash. This rope tangles in the dogs legs a lot less than the nylon webbing strap type leashes.

These leads are ideal for a dog that doesn't wear a collar. Agility dogs don't wear collars when competing and so these are perfect for handling them in between performances or training sessions.

Collars damage the fur and affect the appearance of long-haired dogs. My dog is not ready to go without a collar, but I am working on getting there and when I do I will continue to use this kind of lead.

I have a little 9 lb. dog -- the smallest of my 3 dogs -- who barked incessantly the instant he went outside to go potty. He likes being out and wasn't barking to get in. He's not barking AT anything. I think he's trying to convince any would-be monsters that he is bigger and tougher than them, just in case any are listening. I always say "quiet" and that is generally enough. But he will easily go 6 weeks without a peep now. My neighbors and I are delighted.

Every dog is different, but you might give that a try. You don't want to wet a dog in cold weather, of course, so try this in the summer. In fact, one of those super summer squirt guns may be just the tool you need to reach over distance.

Because of this they barely notice any correction/pulling action that you make when training. He's not crazy about it, but my Shih Tzu (14 pounds) gets fastened into this harness (size small - the product description says "Large" but we have the Small size) every time he rides in the car now. We've had this harness for about a week, and he seems to find it hampers his mobility on the seat of the car. I think he's just reacting to the pressure exerted by the shoulder/lap belt which is threaded through the big loop on the back the harness, and then clicked in place. He tends to lie down or just sit quietly when he's harnessed in. One of these days I think he'll discover that he can move around (stand up, etc.) while in the harness, more than he does now.

We haven't had any sudden stops in the car, much less (heaven forbid) an accident, while using this harness, so I can't speak to how well it works in those situations. It's difficult to buy the right size from either a photo or suggested breeds. A medium was recommended for my Beagle, but she has a smaller snout as she's smaller than most Beagles (a rescue dog!). This muzzle is so light weight and the dog can breath so easily. She didn't fight it at all. I'm sure it would work for walking an aggressive dog, too. 1/6/10 Update: So only a couple days after writing this review the thing bit the dust. While jogging along at a rather slow pace I slipped and came to a complete stop and when my dog hit the end of the stretchy leash the metal plate that the swivel is attached to went flying off the belt and smacked into my dog. Like the belt buckle, the edges on this metal piece are pretty heavy/sharp and thanks to the bungy leash it hit him pretty hard. Thankfully my dog has a nice shaggy winter coat so no real harm was done, just freaked him and me out. I can no longer recommend this leash system at all. It could be incredibly dangerous if it had managed to hit him in the face/eye.


I actually picked this up at a discount store for less than 10 bucks, figured I wasn't going to be losing out a whole lot if it didn't work. I ended up chopping off a couple feet of the leash because I intend to use it with a dog coupler that is about 2.5 feet long and it would have been too cumbersome. I find the belt to be more comfortable when I fit it much lower than they are showing on the box; I keep it down on my hips. The clasp for the belt is a very heavy metal one and can be a bit sharp so you want to be careful when clipping it. So far I have found the velcro that adjusts the belt to be extremely strong but I've only been using this for a few weeks. It is nice that the leash clips off in case you need some extra control and the swivel keeps you from getting completely tangled. I have been using it with my two dogs who are about 70 and 80 pounds and haven't had any problems with the belt breaking away or swivels snapping as I've read in other reviews. Saw someone using it with thier dog and bought one for my puppy. I had 2 sizes.
It was hard to put on a squirming puppy, and even when she stayed still it was difficult to put on. THe black plastic part that you clip closed is very small as are the rings that you attach the leach to and hard to manage with regular sized hands. THe clasp was hard to open. My puppy managed to get her mouth on the black clasp and bit it and broke it. There went that harness. I also didn't like the fact that the material rubbed on her fur when she was walked and she ended up with mats under her front legs and chest. Not a good thing.

I bought it becasue she is a Shi Tzu and didn't want a collar pulling against her wind pipe. I have seen it on dogs on T.V. shows, but those dogs fur was clipped real short. It is not supposed to be left on all the time.

Low Price Automatic No-bark Control Training Shock Collar for Medium and Large Dog

We have a Pit bull/ boxer mix, she is a very hyper puppy who barks at anything and everything. She was driving me and the whole neighborhood crazy. As soon as I got this collar I put it on her. She didn't know where the noise came from at first. But it did not take her long to realize, that when she barked it came from her collar, within a weeks time perhaps not even that long, she no longer was barking at every little noise. I had purchased a cheap e-collar some time ago to keep my 65 pound dog from running off every time an interesting smell caught his fancy. The collar did not rate high enough to make him vocalize and he quickly learned that he could outrun the signal.

I also have a 170 pound Dane. The cheaper collar would not fit him so I never tried it but this system works great. A very few 2 second bursts at #4 has kept him from running off no matter what the temptation. A "nick" at 4 now keeps him firmly where he belongs and reminds him to ignore the chickens.

I got this collar about 2 months when treats and positive reinforcement were not helping much outside the house. Even with chicken and hot dogs in my hand my dog would run about and just do his own thing. i've tried every suggestion on the internet and have read multiple training books. This was my last resort as my dog's safety became an issue. In the house my dog is fine and mastered the sit/stay command, leave it, drop it, roll over, beg, shake paw, wave, and stand. However, once he is outside in the park and off leash his energetic side takes over and not even chicken or hot dogs can get him to obey the above mentioned commands. My dog is a highly energetic 1 and a half year old weimaraner/greyhound mix. Even having him outside and exercising him for about 3 hours a day was not enough to bring down his energy level to the point that he would obey my commands. One day he ran into the parking lot of an open park and it took me over a half hour and a near heart attack to get him back. I hadn't returned with him to the park and he was restricted to gated dog runs, which meant less time exercising since these dog runs are far away from my house. I followed the instructions and the dvd training that came with it, as well as, researching online. This collar has definitely changed my life and my dog's life. I now bring him on a regular basis to the open park and i hardly ever have to use the collar. He even sits and stays when he sees another dog and won't move unless i give the command. I even walk him back to the car off leash, which i park in the street. I'm still amazed that this is the same dog that use to run circles around me and fly to the other end of the park and nearly run into a busy intersection and get hit by a car. People think that this is torture and inhumane. I've tried this on myself and it is not painful unless you go to the highest settings and even with my energetic dog i haven't had the need to even come close to the midway point on the remote. Like i said i hardly even use it now. i probably average 1-2 times of use in the park over a one hour span. Most importantly his "come" command is spot on and will drop anything he is doing once he hears the command. I love this collar and the only inhumane part would be keeping your dog trapped in the house rather than having him run out in the open chasing the ball,playing with other dogs, and just simply sniffing off leash by your side.
