We have a young dog about 14 months old and 20 lbs. We had her hooked up to a run in the back yard, and the first time she bolted after a squirrel, the clasp on the collar broke and off she went. We have since gotten a collar with a more traditional buckle. It takes a couple more seconds to put on, but it should be more long-lasting.
