Between March and November 2009, we purchased eight (8) of the model BC-50B Bark Collars.
At first they seemed to work, for the most part, and it seemed that the dogs would limit their barking when the collars were on, even if they were not working, i.e., batteries were dead.
In time, the collars had no effect on some of the dogs even though they appeared to be working. However, "terminals" and the "rubber" gaskets between the "terminals" and the "box" kept falling off, and some got lost.
Several months ago, we sent an email to Innotek asking if we could BUY a supply of "terminals" and "gaskets", even though we understood that the collars had a one year warranty and this seemed to be a defect in this product. Innotek never responded, and at the present time, we have four (4) collars that we cannot put on the dogs because the "terminals" and "gaskets" have been lost.
We realize that we lost the "terminals" and "gaskets", and Innotek is under no obligation to SELL us replacements: however, if this is the way they deal with customers that have purchased more than a few of their units, what can a customer who only purchased one expect?
We will not be buying anything else that is associated with Innotek.
A copy of everything posted prior to this was sent to Innotek. They responded with the following.
"Thank you for contacting INNOTEK regarding this concern. I apologize that
you did not receiver a response to this matter.
I understand from your e-mail that you originally purchased eight BC-50B
collar receivers, four or which can not be used as the metal contact probes
and rubber grommets are missing. Collar receiver contact probes are sold as
the RK-11 probe kit. This kit includes: one set of short and long probes,
rubber grommets, training probes, and a metal probe wrench. This kit retails
for $9.95 plus shipping and handling.

Observations:
1. Innotek's "kit" price is 34% of the cost of an entire new collar, which included shipping and handling, but "shipping and handling" still has to be added to
the "kit" cost;
2. I need one set of probes (short or long) and the rubber grommets for each collar: I don't need nor do I want to pay for long probes, training probes and a
metal probe wrench for each of the collars;
3. Why do I need probes and rubber grommets in the first place? Because the originals fall off. Why do they fall off? Because they are not properly attached
in the first place: a design and/or manufacturing defect. If the probes were properly attached when the unit was produced, there would be no need for a
"kit" to fix the problem. Why does Innotek have a "kit" available for sale? Because Innotek knows about the defect, i.e., probes falling off, and is going
to capitalize on their defect.
4. This appears to be another case of a manufacturer/marketer producing a defective product, and the consumer is stuck with the consequences.
We will not be buying anything else associated with Innotek.
By the way, if rubber chickens hanging on our dogs' collars would reduce the amount of barking that some of our dogs were doing, all of our dogs would be wearing rubber chickens. We applied the same reasoning to the Innotek Bark Collars.Get more detail about Innotek BC-50B Automatic No-Bark Dog Collar.
