Herm Sprenger Large Prong Training Collar 3.25mm (20 x 1") Right now

I'll start by saying, I think this collar may be left over from medieval times or some other form of extreme punishment. We're an educated society, we can replace brute force with smarter techniques.

I bought one of these for my recently adopted 1yr pitbull. She's obnoxiously strong and it was a fight everytime we went out for a walk. A friend suggested the pronged collar, and although it looked a bit painful, I bought it anyway. The first walk with it was a bit of an experience, as it appear to "scare" my pup straight. After a few minutes, I realized that she was only trying to prevent the pain. I didn't feel like she was getting a lesson in leash walking, but instead felt like I was punishing her.

During the 2nd walk with the collar, the pulling returned. My dog seemed to get used to the pain, and decided to pull anyway. Not as hard, but it showed me that she was missing the point.

Having a 3yr old daughter, this method of teaching seemed excessive. If I wouldn't put it on my child, than it shouldn't be on my dog. I visited another pet store, where they suggested the Gentle Leader Head Collar, Size: Medium, Color: Black. What a world of difference! My dog doesn't feel any pain. I don't feel like i'm hurting her, and the messages it provided from the first walk were much clearer. My pit bull doesn't look like an uncontrollable beast walking in the park, and we can actually enjoy our walks together now.Get more detail about Herm Sprenger Large Prong Training Collar 3.25mm (20 x 1").
