I relied on the size/weight chart for the harness and ordered a medium for my 9 lb mini-dachsund. It is just a tiny bit too big; she sometimes will manage to step out of it. I understand that doxies are hard to fit because of their broad chests, and plan to try a size small to see if that fits her better.
